Pinterest kitchens look beautiful, but they don’t always work in real life. I learned that the hard way after organizing and reorganizing the same cabinets over and over.

The real breakthrough came when I organized based on how I move, not how things look. There is no point in reorganizing a kitchen cabinet or shelf to something that you wont use or does not fit me.

I put drawer organizers where I naturally reach for utensils, not where they “should” go.

I added pull-out cabinet baskets so nothing gets lost in the back. Being able to see everything at once changed how efficiently I cook, and as you know, it is not fun digging everything out of your cabinet to get to something in the back.

In the pantry, clear containers weren’t about aesthetics—they were about awareness. When I see what I have, I use it. When I use it, I waste less. This also helped me when it came to grocery shopping as I didn't buy things when it was not needed because I wasn't sure what I needed or how much I had.

I also stopped over-organizing. Not everything needs a system. Some things just need a home.

My kitchen finally works because it fits ME, not a photo.
